Business and Professional Ethics - Why Bother?

Are there different types of “ethics?”  Why differentiate “business” ethics from “professional” ethics from “personal” ethics?  In this seminar we will explore how different cultures – personal, business, family -- may impact the application of ethical values.  This is an interactive program in which attendees will discuss how a leader’s ethics and values can influence organizational ethics.

 

Following this program, attendees will understand:

  • How the concept of “business ethics” developed
  • How ethical organizations succeed in today’s competitive climate
  • How leaders influence organizational ethics
  • How to manage an organization’s ethics and values 

We will discuss practical tips for managing  ethics and values in an organization and demonstrate the importance of leadership in setting standards and appropriate behavior. 

 

Searching for Excellence through Ethics and Values

In this program we explore what makes organizations and people "excellent" and analyze how ethical values can lead to organizational and personal success.

Future Risk:  Identification, Preparedness, and Response

[4 hrs. GA Ethics]

We live in a rapidly changing world with new and more dangerous risks.  In this seminar, attendees will identify future risk by analyzing exposures we face due to pandemic flu, global warming, scarcity of natural resources, and technology advances.  Who will be impacted by these exposures and how will the insurance industry be called upon to respond?

In this seminar, attendees will:

Ethics and the Insurance Professional: 

Building Strength

[3 hrs. GA, TN, NC, SC Ethics]

        We are often faced with ethical decisions in the

heat of the moment and must make an immediate response.  Just like an athlete training for a marathon, we must be fit and ready to make the right decisions when the situation arises.  In this seminar, attendees will analyze their personal core values and how those values are shared – globally.  We will explore why ethics are important in our lives and how we apply them in day to day situations. 

              We will analyze right vs. right paradigms and evaluate our personal preference when choosing between them.  And, learn how to find our moral courage to stand up for what is right.

              This is an interactive seminar utilizing case studies and exercises.  After completing this seminar, the attendees will:

  • Have a better understanding of the meaning and importance of ethics in our profession
  • Review right vs. right situations and how to resolve them
  • Understand how to develop and use moral courage to make the right decisions and stand by them.

 

Ethics:  The Insurance Professional and Tough Decisions

In this seminar, attendees will learn about ethical decision making and develop skill to help them make the tough decisions.  They will gain a better understanding of what motivates ethical behavior, learn the fundamentals of ethical decision-making, and develop a deeper commitment to professional responsibility.  If you want to learn how your business ethics are impacted by the individual ethics of your colleagues, this is the seminar to attend!

Attendees will look at Ethics from a decision-making perspective.  We will explore why it is important to be ethical and how ethical decisions are made.  The attendees will:

  • Describe the fundamentals for ethical decision-making
  • Develop a deeper commitment to professional responsibility

Attendees will examine the impact of individual ethics on their business and learn how to develop the moral courage to make the touch decisions.

 

A Question of Ethics

The Real Meaning of Ethical Behavior

[3 hrs. GA Ethics]

This seminar looks at the history of Ethics within the insurance industry.  Attendees review and discuss several case studies of day to day situations and find ways of dealing with problematic issues in an ethical manner.  The second part of the seminar looks at personal values with an indepth discussion of personal responsibility and the individual’s role in ethical behavior.

Following this seminar, the attendee will have

  • a better understanding of the conflicts facing insurance professionals today
  • learned methods for making ethical decisions
  • learned how to identify conflicts and resolve them responsibly

 

Ethics to a ‘T’ –

Truth and Trust

[3 hrs. GA, TN Ethics ]

This program explores the meaning of trust and how it differs from truth.  Attendees will learn that trust is based on faith and belief while truth is based on facts.  This is an interactive program using case studies to demonstrate how trust can be broken and what it takes to repair it.    By attending this program, attendees will learn:

  • The difference between trust and truth
  • The value of truth in formulating authentic relationships
  • What it takes to build trust

 

Choosing the High Road:

Ethics and the Insurance Professional

[3 hrs. GA Ethics, NC applied]

In this seminar, attendees will learn about the integration of personal excellence and organizational excellence.  We will explore the qualities of an ethical professional and the power of the individual to make the right choices.  The seminar includes exercises in utilizing decision making resources and case studies to demonstrate how choices determine outcomes.  We will look at personal excellence, customer service, and relationship building as ethical practices of the Insurance professional. 

By attending this seminar, attendees will

  • Learn how ethical choices impact future success
  • Understand the role intuition plays in reaching appropriate decisions
  • Explore the power of knowledge in providing excellent service to the consuming public

Personal and organizational success are mutually dependent.  Attendees will learn how their personal success creates a culture of organizational success, and how an ethical culture in organizations frees all stakeholders to excel. 

 

Ethics: 

Building Trust in the New Era of Risk

         Trust forms the basis for ethical personal and professional relationships. Through discussion of recent betrayals of trust, attendees will learn how ethical organizations succeed in spite of new challenges and risks they face.  Learn how to demonstrate trust and enhance your relationships.

         Attendees will learn the value of ethical behavior and how to build trust in order to develop and enhance relationships.  We will discuss ethical traits in ourselves and others, review studies that demonstrate the advantages of building trust between the employer and employee, and,

Learn how good ethics directly impacts corporate profitability.

          Actual incidences of betrayal of public trust will be reviewed so that attendees will know how to avoid the pitfalls of loss of trust.

 

Ethics and the Insurance Professional: 

Making a Difference

      In this course, attendees will look at companies who have created initiatives to improve their ethical culture and the results attained by focusing on ethical values.  We will examine 10 steps that individuals can take to demonstrate their commitment to ethical values.  We will also explore the importance of moral courage in being able to follow your convictions.  Upon completion of this seminar, attendees will:

  • Gain an understanding of the value of professional ethics
  • Learn how companies with strong ethical values survive and thrive in today’s challenging business climate
  • Learn how each of us can contribute to the bottom line by adhering to ethical standards
  • Finally, we will look at the attributes of morally courageous leaders to understand the key characteristics of an ethical person.

 

The 3 R's of Ethics:  Respect, Right, Responsibility

 Ethical behavior is driven by distinct traits.  Three of these traits are respect, right and responsibility.  In this seminar, attendees will analyze why these traits are important and how they impact ethical decisions.  We will also discuss how these traits are the basis for moral courage in the face of difficult dilemmas. 

This interactive seminar includes real-world case studies to assist attendees in thinking through dilemmas and making sound ethical decisions.  Following this seminar, attendees will:
