Insurance credentials are available to professionals in all lines and areas of the industry.  Some designations are attained through rigorous study and testing, some designations are earned because a body of work has been completed or experience thresholds have been met.

This listing is not all inclusive, and I will be adding to it over time.

First, I'll describe mine:

CPCU - Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation given by the American Institute for CPCU.  To attain this designation, I passed 10 three hour exams covering a broad scope of topics about the insurance product, marketing, underwriting, and financials. The program has been updated recently, and now features two tracks - one for personal lines and one for commercial lines.  There are now 8 comprehensive exams required.

ARM - Associate in Risk Management is also a designation conferred by the American Institute for CPCU.  This is a three part course of study providing information about and understanding of the risk management process.

AIM - Associate in Management designation from the American Institute for CPCU.  A four part course of study that provides insight into management issues and the insurance industry.
